The Horten 229 was an experimental German flying wing jet fighter that was being developed at the end of Second World War. The aircraft was to have been armed with four 30 mm. cannons and was expected to have a top speed in excess of 600 mph. The prototype was captured by the U.S. Army and sent to the United States.
